Courses and Registration

January Term is a great opportunity to earn up to three credits in two weeks - allowing students to stay on track, explore new opportunities, get ahead, or graduate early.

J-Term 2027 classes will meet for 10 days:  Monday, January 4, 2027 – Friday, January 8, 2027; and Monday, January 11, 2027 – Friday, January 15, 2027.  While the majority of classes are offered online, we recommend you check the course list on this site or LOCUS for mode of instruction.

A J-Term class is a full-time, immersive study experience that allows students to focus solely on one course.  Students are expected to spend approximately six to seven hours a day studying or engaged in projects.   Students are urged to contact their academic advisor to discuss whether a J-Term class is right for them.

  • Online courses may have synchronous sessions of certain duration, depending on the class.  A synchronous online course will have meeting times displayed in LOCUS, while an asynchronous course will indicate “TBA” and include a message in the Class Notes.
  • We recommend that students review courses in LOCUS for updates and for detailed course information, including synchronous times, that may have been scheduled by the instructor.

Students should refer to the University Core site to see how specific courses satisfy the Core requirements.  For complete course descriptions, please check the University Catalog or select the link on the J-Term Course Listing.
